I have a couple HDTV calibration DVDs, and I actually used one once. Now that I've replaced the bulb on my Sony WEGA TV, I probably should do it again. But I just found out about an interesting location for a calibration tester in this NY Times article:

If you own any Sony Blu-ray discs then you have already have the calibration tests you need. Type in "7669" in your DVD remote control and press enter – the Sony Blu-ray will lead you through a series of tests and screens to get your monitor perfect.

Latest joke over the email transom:

A man seeking to join up with the Arizona Sheriff's Department is being interviewed.
 
The Sergeant doing the interview says: 'Your qualifications all look good, but there is an attitude suitability test that you must take before you can be accepted.'
 
 Then, sliding a service pistol across the desk, he says: 'Take this pistol and go out and shoot six pedophiles, six meth dealers, six Muslim extremists, and a rabbit.'
 
 'Why the rabbit?'
 
 'Great attitude,' says the Sergeant. 'When can you start?'

The Zombie Survival Guide: Recorded Attacks by Max Brooks

My rating: ★★★★✩

Fun little graphical book with a "history" of the battle against the undead. It tells the story of about 8 different zombie attacks thru history, starting from pre-history through modern times. I think my favorite was the one of the French Foriegn Legion outpost getting attacked and beseiged by zombies. What happens next seems rife for its own story.

Black and white drawings are often pretty graphic. But the stories are all plausible...
