The Emperor is Here!
27th of Last Seed 3E433, 1am : Ye Gods, what news! The commotion turned out to be the Emperor, of all people, coming to my cell! It seems there is to be an attempt on his life, and the guards are leading him through a secret passageway that begins in my cell!
But that isn't even the strangest part. Emperor Uriel Septim claims to recognize me! The addled-pated bink actually seems to think I am a someone. Ha! The closest I've ever gotten to royalty is when the Imperial Tax Collector tracked me down and extracted his (late) pound of flesh from me every year.
No matter what the crazy Emperor might think, they left the huge sliding door open as they raced down the stairs, so I quickly followed behind them. They didn't seem to care I was nearby, and I was able to loot the bodies of some attackers they laid to waste a few moments later. It seems these red-robed Mythic Dawn assassins were able to take down the leader of the Blades, one Captain Renault, but I wasn't too proud to search the body for a weapon. The mystics also yielded up their robes and some potions as well.
The Emperor and a couple more of the Blades carried on, locking the door behind them. I've begun exploring another path, through a small hole in the wall. I'm jotting down these few words before I continue to explore the catacombs, as I catch my breath and steel my spine. Onward!
The faces are strangely rubbery looking. The Emperor is voiced by Patrick Stewart. The plot seem faintly ridiculous, with a whiff of the commonplace (prisoner who escapes? Been done a million times, maybe the first time in Planescape: Torment). Graphics are excellent, although in this play through I had a strange problem with the mouse click registration being off and to the right. I had to restart to fix it.
Some undocumented keyboard shortcuts include F1 for stats, F2 for Inventory, F3 for Spells and F4 for map. You can also name your save games by using the console savecommand, so "~save game1" saves a game as 'game1' and it now shows up as such in the save game menu. That's a "missing" feature much clamored for in the Oblivion forums.
"Captain Renault" indeed...
